Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
