No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
